Living the Dream…

My dad is awesome.  He retired last week and is now at Summer Camp full-time. 

Congratulations, Dad!  And thanks for working so hard all of those years to make our lives so great.  

Can’t wait to see you in December…

FO SHO! Or, Some Gifu Ladies Take On Fukui

Last weekend we did the Fukui Car Rally, and we did it up in style.  In the style of fourth graders.  Gangster fourth graders, with a hit rap single: Fuck Tha’ Souji.

For those at home who haven’t experienced the joy of a car rally, it’s basically a photo scavenger hunt sort of thing.  Each team has a theme, costumes, and a mascot (ours was the illustrious Curious George who is, indeed, curious like a cat).  You meet with the other teams in a designated place and receive a list of driving directions, photo tasks, and puzzles and then set off to complete the challenges and, purposely or not, terrify/charm innocent bystanders.

This place I live in? It’s kind of amazing.

And I’ve been exploring it with this character: William Doolittle (aka: WillDo). Biking around Hida’s valleys is truly lovely. And exploring other places on this island? Also lovely.

But, all of these travels (big and mini) have left the poor traschereau travels neglected for months. Ooops.

I can’t promise summer adventuring won’t derail things, but I’ll do what I can…
